The modules have a maximum power rating of 10W and a typicalfull-load efficiency of 88%, continuous short circuit, 50mA outputripple, EN55022 Class A conducted noise compliance minimizedesign-in time, cost and eliminate the need for external filtering.

MIW5000 SeriesTest ConfigurationsInput Reflected-Ripple Current Test Setup

Input reflected-ripple current is measured with a inductorLin (4.7uH) and Cin (220uF, ESR < 1.0[ at 100 kHz) tosimulated source impedance.

Capacitor Cin, offsets possible battery impedance.Current ripple is measured at the input terminals of themodule, measurement bandwidth is 0-500KHz.

To Oscilloscope+Battery+LinCurrentProbe+Vin+Outcontrol to current control. The unit operates normally once theoutput current is brought back into its specified range.

Overvoltage ProtectionThe output overvoltage clamp consists of control circuitry,which is independent of the primary regulation loop, thatmonitors the voltage on the output terminals.

The control loop of the clamp has a higher voltage setpoint than the primary loop.

This provides a redundant voltage control that reduces therisk of output overvoltage.

MIW5000 SeriesThermal ConsiderationsMany conditions affect the thermal performance of thepower module, such as orientation, airflow over the module,and board spacing. To avoid exceeding the maximumtemperature rating of the components inside the powermodule, the case temperature must be kept below 95°C.

The derating curves were determined from measurementsobtained in an experimental apparatus.
