摘要：An apparatus and method for the treatment of a stenosis or an occlusion in ablood vessel is disclosed in which a main catheter (406) is first delivered to a site proximalto the occlusion. The main catheter may include an occlusive device at its distal end. Aninner catheter or elongate member (e.g., a guidewire) (420) having an occlusive device(422, 422') at its distal end is delivered to the site of the occlusion, and the occlusivedevice is activated at a site distal to the occlusion. A therapy catheter is then introducedto treat the occlusion. Next, a catheter is delivered just proximal to the occlusive device,and this catheter is used to aspirate and/or irrigate the area removing particles anddebris. The aspiration and irrigation steps are preferably repeated until the particles anddebris are removed. Irrigation may also be performed using a catheter or guidewire (420)having an occlusive device (422') that passes fluid through a lumen in the catheter. Aplurality of holes (450) in the proximal end of the occlusive device allows for the passageof fluid such as saline from the lumen of the catheter through the occlusive device andthe holes and into the blood vessel. Holes (460) may also be provided directly in theguidewire (420) proximal to the occlusive device (422).
